Why Choose The Franchise Maker?

You may be thinking “I want to franchise my business, spend the least amount of money doing it and I want a franchise program that will protect me and the business I created”.

Adding to that thought, in an ideal world you would like someone that will work with you (where you are part of every decision and things are not being done on your behalf), guide you thru the franchise development process, teach you the landmines of franchising, give you best practices and ultimately put together a franchise program that is as unique as your business. Well, this is exactly what we do, look no further.

It can be difficult for you to try to determine who to use and who to put your trust into when entering into the world of franchising. It’s a big deal.

So you jump on the Internet seeking answers, but instead walk away even more frustrated and confused with your head spinning (take a look at “How to Research Companies That Do Franchising”). All you find are websites that talk about how great franchising is for you, they seem salesy, no substance and when you peel back the layers you find they are misleading (even the clients they list claiming they have franchised have been around longer than them). So lets talk about why you would choose us.

Straight Foward Answers and a No BS Approach

You may be thinking franchising can be scary, intimidating, confusing, expensive and unattainable for a small business like yours. Well, we are here to tell you that this is simply not the case. The Franchise Maker was created to provide business owners, like you, with a Quick, Easy and Affordable solution to take their business to the next level. All this without being forced into the world of attorneys (take a look at what to watch for when working with an attorney to franchise a business), spending a fortune or giving up any ownership (equity) of your business.

Franchising is a completely different industry than how you are used to operating. We will teach you these differences, how the franchising rules may impact you expectations and the landmines to watch out for while we build your franchise program. We are franchise developers and specialize in only in making franchises (hence our name). We are not a melting pot of other services trying to lure you into our clutches for other streams of revenue later. Nope, once we have put your franchise together our engagement is over you are not tied to us and we do not make any money off your future success. We take a no BS approach which means we are not here to tell you what you want to hear, but rather what you need to hear all in an effort to guide your expectations and keep you out of trouble (read for yourself a few testimonials and what our clients have to say about our approach and their experiences). We do honest work at flat fees with an ongoing mantra to save you money.

We Actually Listen to You!

We believe your business is unique and so should your franchise program. We listen to you and what is important to you when giving up a little rope to let other people run with the business you created. What is okay, what is not okay and what are some non-negotiables. We do not use templates when putting together the Franchise Disclosure Document (take a look at “Why Templates are Bad”). Everything we do is custom and written by one person, which is the same person you will be working with consistently throughout your entire franchise development process. We have a proprietary step-by-step franchise development program actually geared towards listening to you. While we take a collaborative approach to building your franchise program, rest assured our hold-holding process will make what seemed to be very complicated, quite easy.

As you know by now in order to franchise you need a Franchise Disclosure Document (otherwise known as an “FDD”). This document is really a package which is a road map to the entire relationship between you and franchisees. When putting together your Franchise Disclosure Document and all the different parts of it (take a look at the “Elements of the Franchise Disclosure Document”) we need to define your deliverables to the franchisees, the franchisees responsibilities, ensure you do not cross into a joint-employer relationship and of course the type of fees the franchisee will be responsible for paying to you. These fees include the franchise fee which is a fee that comes directly to you to reimburse you for your deliverables (take a look at “How the Franchise Fee is Determined”).

We Do Not Falsely Inflate Franchise Fees

When deciding on a franchise fee we do not falsely inflate that fee which is systemic problem in the franchise industry. This means jacking up your franchise fee unnecessarily to pay a commission to someone to help you sell your franchise, which technically not a direct expense to the franchisee. Makes no sense that a franchisee should pay for your expenses of you paying a commission to someone if you choose to go down that route. You have to ask yourself if you are you going through all the effort to put a franchise program together so you can pay someone a hefty commission and cater to franchise brokers (take a look at a “Who are Franchise Brokers”) or putting a franchise program together that is attractive so a husband and wife team can afford to buy into it. We do not believe in falsely inflating franchise fees.

In your quest to franchise, undoubtedly you have run across franchise marketing and sales companies and some who even call themselves franchise consulting companies. Technically they are franchise brokers but not do not like to call themselves by that title due to the negative connotation of the word “broker” (take a look at “Franchise Consulting Companies Who Are They”). There is an incentive for them to capture you at the beginning stages of franchising and source out the Franchise Disclosure Document so they can steer you in the unknowing direction of falsely inflating your franchise fee. Why? So they can handcuff you into some long term commitment and make a commission off your future franchise sales. Which by the way developing a franchise and selling it is a conflict of interest (it is like putting a fox in the hen house). To be clear we do not do any of that and do not sell franchises!

We Want You to be a Raving Fan

Our approach to franchise development is to create a pleasurable experience for you while educating, coaching and mentoring you so when it is all done you fully understand your franchise program, FDD and are fully self-sufficient. We want you to be a raving fan and like all the other clients before you (see a list of our clients that we have taken to franchise from start-to-finish), walk away feeling that you received a great value for our service. As a client we provide you with a team of attorneys along with all the tools and resources you need to successfully roll out your franchise program.

Take a few minutes learn more about us and how we are the only ones in the industry to be recognized for our integrity, transparency and ethical business practices (we were honored with the Better Business Torch Award). We are the real deal!

What is Your End Game

We will identify and work towards your end game which is why you’re expanding your business by franchising in the first place.

We will identify why you want to franchise and what is your end game such as: building the business to a certain level (which may mean multiple locations) and then sell it; growing the business to pass onto a family member; doing something spectacular and become legendary (perhaps a paradigm shift); attracting investors or private equity to grow bigger for an eventual sale or merger; or going public (see our article on "What's Your End Game).

Regardless of your end game, we will orchestrate the franchising activity to help you achieve these goals.

We will guide and steer you in the right direction to successfully market and advertise for franchisees, create compelling franchise marketing collateral (see our article on Franchise Marketing Collateral), transform your website into a showcase and of course how to qualify applicants. Qualifying applicants is one of the most important parts of franchising and we have a comprehensive step-by-step program that will teach you how to pre-screen and identify a specific process (which includes tracking, following-up and tons of best practices) to qualify franchise applicants. Our team will also help you with everything from creating franchise marketing collateral to recommendations on how to market for franchisees (that may include Internet advertising and targeted email campaigns). Remember that as a client of The Franchise Maker®, you have our teams of professionals at your disposal and you automatically inherit our rolodex of professionals who (because you are a client of The Franchise Maker®) provide services at a discounted rate.

But wait Johnny there's more. We don't stop working for you after your franchise program has been created, as that's where many new franchisors fail. Just because you have all the necessary disclosure documents and can legally offer franchises, does not mean that you are ready to bring on franchisees. We make our ongoing franchisor support program easy. You are not obligated to participate, but if you choose to do so we can provide ongoing support to help as you award franchises and continue to evolve as a franchisor. Our commitment to you is long-term. We will customize an ongoing franchise consulting arrangement based on your needs. Our ongoing franchise consulting program is set up so that you are NOT tied to our services. Depending on your situation and your needs the choice is yours.

So, if you are thinking "it's time I start franchising my business" remember from creation to completion and beyond The Franchise Maker, an award-winning company, is your solution.
